In the warmth of the sun, we find the power to keep going.
Welcome to the next turn in the Wheel of the Year - Litha or what is commonly known as the Summer Solstice!
This is the longest day and shortest night of the year where the solar power is at it's peak as the Sun shines at it's highest point in the sky. After today, the days will slowly shorten, the nights will grow a bit longer until we find ourselves at the beginning of the Wheel of the Year at Samhain, when we enter the dark season.
This time of year is full of abundance, activation and fun! We are drawn to spend more time in nature, soaking up the solar rays, splashing in the waterways and allowing the leisurely rhythm of this time of year to let us savour each summer moment. Summer Solstice is when the “sun stands still." In this beautiful pause, we can take all the abundant energy in for we are at the half way point in the calendar year. This is an excellent time to remind ourselves how far we have come.
As I am less than a week and half out from a huge transition, I too, need that reminder.
Where in your life have you noticed the most growth?
What is wanting to activate within you to manifest without?
When and with who do you shine the brightest?
We often speak of the Divine Feminine/Goddess energy being that of the sacred dark or lunar qualities. However, there are many powerful solar Goddesses that are wanting to be known at this time including Egyptian Goddesses Isis and Sekhmet. Both represent the Mother energy. Isis has a softer energy, where Sekhmet is more fierce, evident to her depiction as having the head of a lion and the body of a woman.
Which Goddess is calling to you?
Do you need to nourish and nurture yourself more at this time of year? Or are you feeling the urge to roar with assertiveness and power? Neither is better than the other. In fact, maybe it's both. For each solar Goddess brings their blessings - for in the warmth of the Sun, we find our power to keep going, even when life seems like a never ending road of tests, turns, and twists. It's not permanent. Like the Sun's heat that waxes and wanes throughout the year, the solar energy is still there. Shining bright, even when hidden by gloomy clouds.
To honour this brightest of all days, take time to be in the Sun! Enjoy a walk, a swim, working in the garden or have a bonfire in the evening if safe to do so. Wear bright colours of yellow and orange. Leave an offering in the garden for the fairies including strawberries or crystals. It is said that the veil is thin during the Solstice. Perhaps there is enchantment that awaits you today - after all, it is MidSummer. A time of the in between, the magical and the mystical.
Like the sunflower and the bees upon it, drink the sweetness of the season in and let yourself bloom completely wide open in your most abundant, activating form.
Happy Litha/Solstice to you!
