We Give Thanks for what has been, what is and What will be.

We have come to the end of one Wheel of the Year and the beginning of another as we celebrate Samhain (sow-in). Known as Celtic New Year or Witch's New Year, Samhain marks the third and last harvest festival of the season or summer's end. We enter the sacred dark to rest and regenerate, awaiting the return of the light at Yule/Winter Solstice.

Samhain, commonly observed at sunset on October 31st until sunset on November 1st, is a time where we give thanks to what has been, what is and what will be. We honour and remember our ancestors, especially the wise women in our life, the grandmothers, the great-great grandmothers and all those who came before. We remember our beloveds who have left the material world but are with us in the ethereal.

We honour the witches, midwives, herbalists, priestesses, seers and wise women who held sacred knowledge and the wisdom to heal others. We remember those who had their voice silenced and their lives ended because they were powerful, and power was feared.

On this Samhain Eve, if you feel called, create an alter of seasonal symbols (below) including pictures of your loved ones that are no longer here. Light a candle to remember them, say a prayer and honour their place in your heart.

Samhain blessings to you and and abundant wheel of the year ahead!
