Spring is a time for rebirth and preparing to fully bloom

We are at a crossroads of the seasons, leaving the weight of winter behind as we come into a time of rebirth, regeneration and resurrection. The Wheel of the Year turns once again, bringing us to Ostara/Spring Equinox on March 20th, the same day the planet Mercury goes direct and two days after the New Moon in Pisces. On the 20th we also enter the astrological new year in the sign of Aries, the ram, with all it's fire and pioneering spirit. As an Aries, this time of year is so exciting to me as all things are possible now!

It's a time where the seeds that were gestating at Imbolc can now begin their journey to the surface, emerging with new life and hope. The Equinox brings equal day and night, balancing the energies of the Divine Feminine and Masculine. Ostara, named for the Goddess of fertility and new life, is all about embracing rebirth, preparing to fully bloom and ripen with the energy of new beginnings.

In Ayurveda, early to late spring is still the time of Kapha season. It's elemental qualities are earth + water, which can make things feel heavier, sticky and stagnant if we aren't adjusting our self-care, diet and movement routines to balance these qualities. Spring is an ideal time to partake in a gentle Ayurvedic cleanse to reset your body temple after our months of hibernation, heavier foods and slower pace of life. It's also the time seasonal allergies run high along with colds and other respiratory illnesses. We want to lighten our load - choose seasonal foods that have more astringent qualities like bitter greens, lighter dairy consumption and liver supportive foods. We want to move our bodies more, getting out on the sunnier days to awaken our energy.

The energy of spring invites us to clear away the cobwebs that have been figuratively and literally gathering in our lives. They don't call it spring cleaning for nothing! This new found zest and momentum will help us declutter our homes, our thoughts, our outdated habits and belief systems that no longer serve.

Take a moment to centre yourself. Place your left hand on your heart. Inhale for the count of four, exhale for the count of six through your nose. Repeat this cycle three times or more until you start to feel you body surrender and your energy become still. Then when ready, ask yourself the following from your heart space, the seat of your intuition:

What am I a leaving behind from the winter?

What am I birthing into being this spring?

What is my next right action on my path to create new life?

Don't over analyse the answers. Journal what has come to you allowing the inner wisdom to be your guide through this seasonal change and beyond.

The spring rains will wash away that which cannot journey with us and the fresh winds will blow us into the direction of our fullest potential!

Ostara Blessings to you!
